Let the Holiday Season begin!

BAB1-BZ

The new Build a Bear die...isn't it CUTE!

OK, let’s start with Fall and go from there, yes?  I am SO excited about this mini.  First off, it’s HUGE!   So many fantastic holiday images…Fall, Halloween, and (shhh!) Christmas!   Even more than holidays, though….Stampin’ Up! is announcing a TRIO of new and fabulous product lines!

Build-A-Bear Workshops and Stampin’ Up! have partnered to bring you some really exciting things.  Rubber stamps?  Oh, yeah, baby!  Big Shot dies?  Woohoo, so CUTE!    I tell you, the new designer paper that coordinates with the BABW is really bringing out the artistic little kid in me…I can’t stop cranking out  new bears so I can keep cutting out clothes, lol!

Starting in October, the long-anticipated My Digital Studio software will be available for customer purchase!  There will be more on this later because honestly, I have to learn more about it to even tell you all the great features.  I can’t wait to dig into it, though!

I am very anxious for the Simply Adorned charms to arrive…they look absolutely beautiful!  Lovely lockets that are really a step above with the beautiful beveled glass front to show off your customized artwork keepsake.  No word yet on the exact date on those.

Click on the mini icon up on the top left here to view the catalog.  You’ll be drooling with all the gorgeous samples, lol!   I’ll be back in town on the 12th when I hope to get samples up…

So Proud!

I am so proud of my son DJ! The past few years he’s really worked hard to bring up his grades. Now in his Junior year in high school, his end of year report card shows that he increased his GPA again over last year. Every year it inches up a little higher. This one was ALL A’s and B+’s! That’s my boy, lol! Anyway, I made this card for him, just to tell him how proud of him I am.
The card uses a lot of NEW catty stuff (go figure!).

Sizzix Big Shot Doctor’s Bag

$69.95

$49.99

What a great deal!  The Big Shot Doctor’s Bag, normally $69.95, is this week’s Deal of the Week!…from now until 9:50 a.m. July 13th, you can get it for $49.99!  How awesome is that? That’s almost 30% off!   I’ve heard a lot of folks saying this makes a great — and chic — carryon bag for weekend jaunts, too!   I love the look of this thing, I gotta tell ya…

OK, check this out…Kanab, UT is the home of Stampin’ Up!, and every year the town has an Independence Day parade.  Also every year, Stampin’ Up!  has a float entered…no kidding!  I saw this posted on Shelli’s blog this morning and couldn’t resist…

Remind you of anything?  (Hint: check page 67 in the NEW 2009-2010 catalog…)    For more pictures of the parade, check out Shelli’s blog at www.SoShelli.com.  It’s a fantastic blog that I love to visit.

Don’t forget to check my website every Monday at 10 a.m. for the new Deal of the Week, ‘k?

Oh, wait!  I almost forgot I had a card to share, lol.  Sheesh!  I got my sneak peek box later than normal so it took me awhile to get crackin’ on playing with the new stuff.

Razzle24-7BZWatermarked

I could NOT resist getting the Big Shot Curly Movers and Shapers die.  I can’t believe how long I waited!  This thing is just so much fun to use.  The base card is the new Crushed Curry In-Color cardstock layered with the Razzleberry Lemonade Designer paper.  I think this is my favorite patterned sheet out of it, but don’t quote me on it, lol!  It was a simple matter to run the dp through the die and line up the layered windows. I stamped “24-7”  from the Friends 24-7 set in Elegant Eggplant (on Whisper White) and punched it out with the coordinating Curly Label punch.  The punch is just a smidge smaller than the die punch, so it works perfectly!  Inside the card I stamped the other sentiment from that set, “Here for you,” which still leaves a LOT of room for writing a personal note inside.

I can’t wait for my box to get here tomorrow…more new catty stuff arriving, including 3 of the new In-Colors!  See you soon!  Thanks for stopping by…

Sorry, not stamping related, but it’s Susan Boyle!

Such a wonderful story for those who root for the underdog!  OK, and for those who love listening to fantastic singing voices. If you are NOT one of the 100 million people who have heard Susan’s initial appearance on BBC’s “Britain’s Got Talent,” see below this video.  Any excuse to make it easier for me to play the video, lol!

And here is the link to her first performance.  Apparently someone requested these videos not be embedded in a ton of blogs, but the link will take you straight to it…  This is truly an amazing performance.  Talk about a voice like an angel!

OK, so I won’t feel like I’m cheating, here’s a card I just found (literally!)  I did it several weeks ago, and it just showed up on my desk tonight, lol.

Base card is Shimmer White; Manhattan Rose folder is used on this to-die-for metallic bronze paper from our Taste of Textiles designer paper. I stamped the outline rose image from the 5th Avenue Floral set to make a liner for the matching envelope. Now I just need to find someone getting married...

OK, thanks for looking, have a great Memorial Day!

Reinker Spread Technique

bzmanhattanreinkereggplant-copy

This technique was recently demo’d at the Stampin’ Up! Regionals held in Seattle, Washington. Crystal French shared it with sister demos, and after it was shown at the regionals, it’s gone viral on the ‘net, lol! No wonder! It’s a beautiful effect…

If you’ve ever seen resist silk painting, this is basically the same thing. Emboss an open lined image with white embossing powder, or really any color you want. As shown, it’s done on SU’s Shimmery White cardstock. It’s a stronger, smoother-finished cardstock than our Whisper White, so it stands up to the water well. (OK, the shimmer that shows through is nothin’ to sneeze at!)

Once the image is embossed, heavily spritz with water. Then pick 2 or 3 colors of reinker (colors on this sample were So Saffron and Elegant Eggplant) and use the aquapen to pick up and drip a drop at a time. You’ll be amazed to see it spread so quickly! Then it’s just a matter of playing with the color…add more, get darker color. There’s really no wrong way to do it.

Acetate Sense of Time

I’ve had a picture of this in my mind for several days, but just finally got to it last night.  I used acetate (Window Sheet) as the top layer and stamped smaller elements and sentiment on it.  Of course the Big Shot had to get in on it…it always does these days!  I  punched the Flower Burst embosslit from Baja Breeze and Little Leaves sizzlet from Mellow Moss. This was attached to a same-sized piece of dsp from the Parisian Breeze Specialty paper pack (LOVE this stuff!) onto which I’d stamped and clear-embossed the large clock image.  Very subtle but it really looks good IRL (I think), lol!    The flower and leaves were glued to the acetate with Tombow Mono-Multi and then the whole acetate sheet was applied to the dsp using glue behind the flower elements.  Perfect way to attach the acetate without it showing.  Then these were attached to a card base of Baja Breeze.  I’m so pleased with how this one turned out…

Bella Blossoms Paper Tole

OK, slight stretch, lol!  Real paper tole is so much more intricate than this.  Here I just raised a couple of the petals, but more than that would make it tough to mail, I think.  This set is on the Dormant List right now, but still available for purchase.   The Parisian Breeze Specialty paper goes beautifully with Bordering Blue…
